  • 450 g ground beef (or half beef half turkey)
  • 1 egg
  • 60 ml whole milk
  • 50 g breadcrumbs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (for frying)
  • 800 g canned crushed tomatoes
  • 3 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 small onion (diced)
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Dried basil
  • Oregano
  • Chili flakes

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine breadcrumbs with milk and let sit for about five minutes until softened.
  2. Add ground beef or turkey, egg, cheese, minced garlic, and seasonings to the soaked breadcrumbs; mix gently until combined.
  3. Form the mixture into golf-ball-sized meatballs.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat; add meatballs and brown on all sides (about 5–7 minutes).
  5. Remove meatballs from the skillet and set aside. In the same pan, sauté onions until soft, then add minced garlic and cook until fragrant.
  6. Pour in crushed tomatoes and seasonings; stir well.
  7. Return meatballs to the sauce, cover, and simmer on low heat for 20-25 minutes until tender.
